The Câlnic (Kelling in German) fortified church is the most valuable historical building and also the landmark of the village with the same name.
Due to its good preservation and the location - in the middle of a town bearing the mark of the civilization brought by the German colonists settled in Transylvania, the compound was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Initially based on a XIIIth century dwelling tower, a chapel and an oval enceinte; it was presented to the village community in 1430. The walls were fitted with two towers and the dwelling tower was transformed into a defensive tower.
