The Plopiş Wooden Church, situated in Şişeşti village, Maramureș County, dates from 1798.
The church is located in the region Chioar Cavnic valley and was built by the villagers between 1796 and1798. It was built of beams, rustically assembled in a "Blockbau" system.
Plopiş Church takes over architectural elements of the church in the neighboring village, Şurdeşti.
The similarity of forms and decoration styles of the two churches implies that the two were bulit by the same builder, Ion Macarie.
