Day 1

Bucharest: Romania’s Heart. And Soul. And Capital City.

Pick-up from Bucharest Airport
Around the 1900's Bucharest attractions made it earn the title "Little Paris", due to its beautiful Belle Epoque buildings, tree-lined large boulevards, and its particularly vivid highlife, artists, musicians, writers & painters.
Even though the scars left by the communist regime are still to be seen, Bucharest has emerged from its own ashes, like a Phoenix bird, in the last 20+ years, after the 1989 historical shift.
Nowadays the city displays an interesting mix of old and new: modern steel-and-glass buildings mixed with ancient monuments with long and rich history; palaces and museums scattered mainly in the Old Town area, sophisticated cafes and restaurants providing unique feelings along with grey marks of the communist era, altogether representing the reborn charm of Romania's modern and interesting capital, with its cultivated sensibility.
Short city tour of Bucharest, with the visit of all the main attractions concentrated in the Old Town (the Lipscani/Historical Centre area: Manuc's Inn, the ruins of the Old Court), Victoriei Boulevard with the Romanian Athenaeum - the capital's cultural landmark, the former Royal Palace, Cantacuzino Palace, Kretzulescu church.
Dinner with a special menu in a beautiful historic restaurant: The Beer Wagon (Caru' cu Bere).

Optional: taking part at a concert / show organized during the stay

Day 2

Romanian Castles / Free time
Free time or let us tempt you with one day fully dedicated to the visit of some of the most beautiful and fascinating Romanian castles.
Transfer to Sinaia, a famous and beloved mountain resort, named ”Pearl of the Carpathians”, a nice location on the Prahova Valley, where a visit of the Peles Castle, former residence of Romania’s Kings is arranged.
Built between 1873 and 1914 by King Carol I of Romania (born Prince Karl of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen dynasty) as his summer residence, Peles Castle shelters a huge collection of works of art, rare furnitures, weapons collections, valuable books, and over 2.000 paintings in its 160 rooms. The best architects in Europe at that time have used an abundance of wooden decorations, outside and inside the castle, combined with stone, bricks and marble, all the materials displayed in the epic scenery providing a special feeling.
Built like a fairy tale castle, in German Neo-Renaissance style and surrounded by the majestic Carpathian mountains, the Peles Castle reveals its beauty on the outside, as well as on the inside. The Peles Castle is surrounded by seven terraces decorated with statues, intricate stone-made wells, ornamental vases and Carara marble.
The Peles Castle’s architecture profiled against the snow-capped mountain peaks is a stunning and breathtaking view; one of the finest castles one can ever see, regularly placed on the “Most Beautiful Castles in the World” lists.

From Sinaia the route leads the tourists to the small village of Bran, situated at the former border of two Romanian historical provinces: Transylvania and Walachia.

Visit of the Bran Castle, better known as the Vlad Dracul/Dracula’s Castle. The medieval stronghold perched on rocks high above the valley was built in the XIVth century, and used by Vlad “The Impaler” Tepes (born Vlad III, son of Dracula – Dracula being his father’s name) as his residence; initially in order to protect the peasants and landowners at the border between the two regions.
Transfer to Brasov (German: Kronstadt), Transylvania, a big city displaying impressive Transylvanian Saxons heritage. Short city tour with the visit of the City Council Square, the Black Church (Brasov’s landmark, over 500 years old, the largest Gothic church in SE Europe, which hosts one of the greatest pipe organs in Europe), Ecaterina’s gate, a fairy-looking medieval tower, part of the last preserved original city gates.
